Publishing unbranded articles. What it is and how it helps me
Informative articles that build authority without sounding promotional. Discreet links, natural anchors, a mix of external sources for credibility. Ideal for long-term SEO strategies.
What an unbranded article is
An unbranded article is an editorial text on a topic relevant for the audience, containing discreet links to authoritative websites, including yours. Unlike the classic SEO article with a brand mention, it does not directly mention your company name and does not send obvious promotional signals.
The strategy works because Google increasingly identifies the obvious patterns of a paid article with a brand link. Informative articles with discreet links are perceived as more natural signals and can pass authority in a more sustainable way.
Examples of structure
- An article "How to choose a non-bank lender", with a discreet link to the lender client's website, alongside links to ANAF, BNR or ASF.
- A guide "Steps to open a company in 2026", with a link to the client's accounting service, plus a link to the Trade Register.
- A list "Useful SaaS tools for entrepreneurs", with the client mentioned among other real products, without superlatives.
How to publish a link building article
Identify an informative topic relevant for the audience, not for you. Start from a real question searched in Google.
Filter the catalog by high DA, real traffic, topic category. Prefer publications with editorial authority.
Between 550 and 800 words, informative tone. Links to your website with descriptive anchors, plus external links to official sources, within the limit allowed by each publication.
Check indexing within 7 to 30 days. Repeat the strategy with another topic a few weeks later, on another publication.
Rules for natural links
The difference between link building that works and link building that gets penalized comes down to a few simple rules:
- Anchor diversity. Never the same anchor across several articles. A mix of descriptive, generic, partial-brand and bare URL anchors.
- Publication diversity. A mix of general, niche and regional. Avoid placing many links per month on the same publication.
- Non-competitor external links. Add links to official sources in the article (Wikipedia, ANAF, INS, ministries). They increase the credibility of the article.
- Original content. Do not copy texts from other websites. Google penalizes duplicate content.
- Sustainable pace. A few articles per month, not dozens in one week. Sudden velocity triggers anti-spam filters.
Articles with too many links relative to their length, or with identical anchors repeated on many publications, can send negative signals. For aggressive strategies, alternate with purely informative articles, without a commercial link.
